Un regard vers l’avenir
L’année 2015 marque la Commémoration des 400 ans de présence française en Ontario. C’est en effet en 1615 qu’on a documenté le premier passage de Samuel de Champlain dans la baie Georgienne et l’établissement d’assises francophones dans la région. En cette année historique, c’est une communauté franco-ontarienne vibrante et engagée qui célèbre son passé et qui porte un regard confiant vers l’avenir.
PROGRAMME DE FINANCEMENT DU 400e
Pour souligner cette année historique, la province a constitué un fond spécial de 5,9 millions $ pour la réalisation de nombreux projets porteurs dont 62 événements culturels, touristiques et communautaires. Ces événements spéciaux ont lieu de mai à novembre 2015 et ce, à travers l’Ontario.
RENDEZ-VOUS CHAMPLAIN ET PARC ROTARY CHAMPLAIN WENDAT DE PENETANGUISHENE
Les gouvernements de l’Ontario et du Canada et la ville de Penetanguishene ont uni leurs forces pour doter les citoyens d’un nouveau parc commémorant les passages de Champlain dans la région. Le lancement officiel est marqué par une reconstitution historique de l’arrivée de Champlain et de sa première rencontre avec la nation Huron-Wendat.
Maxime Le Flaguais interprète le rôle de Champlain dans la série télévisée Le Rêve de Champlain.
LE RÊVE DE CHAMPLAIN
Une magnifique série télévisée produite par le Groupe Média TFO, basée sur le recueil de l’écrivain David Hackett Fischer Le Rêve de Champlain.
PROGRAMMATION CULTURELLE DES JEUX PANAMÉRICAINS ET PARAPANAMÉRICAINS DE TORONTO
Un comité spécial désigné par la province supervise l’attribution de fonds spéciaux pour assurer une présence francophone notable dans l’aspect culturel des Jeux, notamment lors des cérémonies officielles et dans les zones prévues à cet effet.

SAISON DE LA FRANCOPHONIE AU MUSÉE ROYAL DE L’ONTARIO (ROM)
Mise en place d’une série d’événements culturels mettant en lumière l’histoire francophone et les contributions des explorateurs et meneurs de file qui ont permis de façonner l’Ontario français. Exposition d’objets illustrant l’histoire de Champlain et des francophones en Ontario, ainsi que La fièvre du vendredi soir au ROM, une soirée de divertissement pour jeunes adultes avec artistes multidisciplinaires francophones contemporains.
CONFÉRENCE MINISTÉRIELLE SUR LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE
20e rencontre annuelle à laquelle participent les 14 juridictions canadiennes: les provinces, les territoires et le gouvernement fédéral. La Conférence est tenue en Ontario à l’occasion du 400e. Immigration, services en français, médias, développement économique, tourisme et promotion de la francophonie sont les principaux sujets abordés.
ASSOCIATION DES MUSÉES DE L’ONTARIO
Création du premier musée virtuel de la francophonie ontarienne, développé en collaboration avec les musées des quatre coins de la province, et accompagné d’une série d’événements communautaires et ludiques. Ce musée virtuel représentera un legs permanent pour des générations à venir.

Looking Ahead to the Future
2015 marks the Commemoration of 400 Years of French Presence in Ontario. Indeed, in 1615, Samuel de Champlain’s first voyage to the shores of the Georgian Bay was documented and established the foundations of the Francophone community in the region. As we celebrate this historic year, Ontario’s Francophone community is now a vibrant and engaged community which is celebrating its past while looking confidently ahead to the future.
400TH CELEBRATIONS FUNDING PROGRAM
In order to mark this historic year, the province established a special one-time fund of $5.9 million to cover numerous key projects including 62 cultural, community and tourism-related events. These special events will take place across Ontario between May and November 2015.
RENDEZ-VOUS CHAMPLAIN AND THE ROTARY CHAMPLAIN WENDAT PARK IN PENETANGUISHENE
The Government of Ontario, the Government of Canada and the Town of Penetanguishene have joined forces to provide citizens with a new park commemorating de Champlain’s travels to the region. The official launch was marked by a historical re-enactment of the arrival of de Champlain and his initial meeting with the Huron-Wendat Nation.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMING FOR THE PAN AMERICAN AND PARAPAN AMERICAN GAMES IN TORONTO
A special committee created by the province is supervising the allocation of special funding to ensure a notable Francophone presence in cultural aspects of the Games, most notably during the official ceremonies and in other designated areas.

IT’S FRANCOPHONIE SEASON AT THE ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM (ROM)
Creation of a series of cultural events which highlight Francophone history and the contributions of explorers and leaders that helped to shape Francophone Ontario. Exhibition of objects which illustrate the history of de Champlain and Francophones in Ontario and Friday Night Live at the ROM, an evening of entertainment for young adults featuring contemporary multidisciplinary Francophone artists.
20TH MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON THE CANADIAN FRANCOPHONIE
The annual meeting includes the participation of 14 Canadian jurisdictions: the provinces, three territories and the federal government. The Conference is scheduled to be held in Ontario on the occasion of the 400th anniversary. The main topics of discussion include immigration, French language services, media, economic development, tourism and promotion of the Francophonie.
ONTARIO MUSEUM ASSOCIATION
Launch of Ontario’s first bilingual virtual museum dedicated to Franco-Ontarian culture and heritage, developed in collaboration with museums across the province and accompanied by a series of community events. This virtual museum will be a permanent legacy for future generations.
